Useful conversations, manageable commitment.

Places are limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee a match.

We will get in touch with the selected candidates to start the 8 weeks cycle once we reach enough participants.

Looking to move forward?

Considering a transition into data management, to deepen your expertise or preparing for greater responsibilities?

Connect with a mentor to gain perspective, test your ideas and clarify your next steps.

You bring your goals and questions; your mentor brings experience and an outside perspective.

Ready to share your experience?

Do you have relevant experience in data management and an interest in supporting another professional?

Help your mentee explore their options, question their assumptions and develop their thinking. You do not need to have every answer: sharing lessons learned and asking thoughtful questions can make a difference.

For this pilot, each mentor supports one mentee, on a voluntary basis.

A simple format. A direction of your own.

The pilot includes three 45–60-minute sessions over eight weeks, in English or French, online or in person, depending on what works for each pair.

1. Connect & Define

Share your backgrounds and identify one or two realistic goals for the pilot.

2. Explore & Challenge

Discuss your priorities, consider different perspectives and explore practical actions.

3. Reflect & Move Forward

Identify useful insights and the next steps in your professional development.

Mentees take the lead in scheduling meetings and preparing discussion topics. Pairs agree on their meeting dates within the pilot timeline communicated by the organizers. A short feedback survey concludes the experience.

Who is this for?

The pilot is intended for professionals with existing experience in data, IT or related business functions who wish to transition into or advance within data management.

Topics may include data governance, quality, architecture, metadata or data strategy, depending on mentees’ goals and the expertise of available mentors.

This first edition is not open to students or recent graduates without professional experience.

How to take part

Submit your application.

Complete the mentor or mentee form to tell us about your experience, goals and availability.

We look for a suitable match.

The Compass team reviews applications and proposes pairs based on goals, experience, languages and availability. We prioritize a good match over filling every available place.

Prepare for your first conversation.

If your application is selected and a match is confirmed, we will share the next steps, the charter and the practical participant guide.

A few things to know before applying

Do I need to be a DAMA Geneva member already?

You do not need to become a member to submit an application as mentor or mentee, and membership does not guarantee a place. However, if selected, you must join DAMA Geneva before participating.

Is there a mentoring fee?

There is no mentoring fee beyond the association’s membership fee. Mentors contribute their time voluntarily.

Can we discuss real professional situations?

Yes, as learning opportunities and without sharing confidential information from your organization. Compass is not a consulting service, a recruitment service or a structured CDMP preparation course. Mentoring conversations are not a setting for commercial prospecting.

What principles guide the experience?

The Compass Charter sets out participants’ commitments and the pilot’s principles of respect, confidentiality and neutrality. Each participant must read it before their first session. Participation in the pilot constitutes acceptance of its content; no signature is required.
